Eysy Tools for Sellers

I often browse other Etsy blogs to see what other crafters are doing. Alot f the time, I come across them using awesome widgets to promote their shop on their blogs. So I decided to do a little research and find these magical widgets. One of the sites I found is MakeForBusiness. It is a one stop place for all your Etsy widget needs. Here, I discovered Etsy On Sale widget which I promptly put to use and created my first On sale event for my shop. (p.s. - the sale is currently live but not for long, so make sure you check it out). Below are some images to help you better understand the process of creating a sale. It's really easy and simple.

This is the homepage of Etsy on Sale. Click the Seller Tools button at the top right corner.

Sign in with your Google account.

Set you Time Zone and click to authorize your Etsy shop. It will direct you to Etsy where you'll have to grant access to the widget.

Your shop banner will pop up and you;re ready to create your event. Click on the banner to start.

Click Sales Events.

Click New Sales Events on the right.

Follow instructions to create a Sale. if you have any questions. Click the Help button on the top right.
The only drawbacks is that it let's you pick sections of the shop to put on sale and not individual items. It's not a big deal, you can always create a new section in your sale with just the items you wish to be on sale and then create a Sale event for that section. And also that they give you one free trial, otherwise you have to pay to create Sale Events. The best deal is 100 points for $25, which comes out to be 25 cents per Sales Event. Not too bad. What d you guys think?

BatHaus Brooklyn Flea

Alright kiddies. The time has come for another fair at BahHaus Brooklyn Flea Fair. I'm nervous and excited for this one because it's a new venue in Bushwick, created by an awesome collective of creative peeps at BatHaus. The event is this upcoming Saturday, Sept. 9th at 12pm. If it goes well, I might become a regular vendor there, because it looks a great hip place to be at.

Stop by and check our the huge loft filled with all kinds of goodies. http://bathaus.tumblr.com/page/2

Pendants Photoshoot

I tried to have a mini photoshoot in the backyard with my pendants. The weather wasn't so good and my camera isn't that special. Anyway, here's the outcome:

Gallery Room @ Better Than Jam

Better than Jam Pop-Up Shop on Governor's Island consisted of two apartments. One was designated for kids stuff and clothing, the other was for t-shirts, jewelry, and two rooms serving as gallery space for art. Here are some photos of my oil painting hanging on the wall of one of the rooms.

Better Than Jam: Pop-Up Shop

This summer, I was honored to be selected as one of the talented Etsy crafters to be featured in the Better than Jam Pop-Up shop on governor's Island. The traffic was a bit on the slow side, mainly due to our location. But it was a learning experience and I made a few new friends. Plus, I got some really photos of my products (hello, free photoshoot).

HairBows Barrettes with art prints enclosed in recycled bottlecaps.

Adjustable charm bracelets with my signature art.

Finally got around uploading some photos form the Go Green Greenpoint fair, my first fair. In my own opinion, I think I did ok for my fist time, even though I got rained on at first. I hope to do even better my second time, which if you don't already know, will be held in Chelsea, NYC.

Anyways, here are some re-cap photos form the Greenpoint fair:

Pinnochio Inspired Paintings

I did a small series of 3 paintings based on Buratino, the Russian version of the Pinnochio. Buratino was published in 1936 by Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy, after Carlo Collodi's Pinnochio. The main characters are Buratino, Malvina, and Pierrot.

"Buratino"
Oil and Graphite on Canvas
12x12
Buratino is a long nosed wooden puppet carved by Papa Carlo. This one is actually more closely related to Pinnochio than the actual Butratino. I chose to do this version because it's more contrasting, Buratino's tones were too similar to Malvina's.

"Malvina"
Oil and Graphite on Canvas
12x12
Malvina is a beautiful blue haired girl puppet. She is sarcastic and unfazed, but a loyal friend.
She has a pet poodle names Artemon.

"Peirrot"
Oil and Graphite on Canvas
12x12

Pierrot is a sad looking puppet who is also a poet and madly in love with Malvina.

Giclee Canvas: Mushrooms

Introducing Giclee Prints of my mushroom trio, printed on stretched canvas. I am very impressed with the quality.

I have done extensive research to find a good, reliable printing company. I must have spent months researching and contacting different printers. Many were simply unreliable, unavailable,  and I felt they didn't care. I'm not going to name names as this is not a venting post.

Anyway, I am very satisfied with these canvas. The Canvas arrived a week after I ordered and were sealed with maximum protection (took me a while to unpack it). They even attached hooks on the back for hanging and little velvet dots to keep the painting form bumping into the wall, so it doesn't damage the painting or the wall.

On sale at byMarta:

Magnets are here.

Yay!!! I was so excited to come home today to a little package by my door from PureButtons. My magnets are here. I ordered only 2 designs of my mushrooms, my "Wild Thing" and "Autumn Dawn". I wanted to test out how they look and I must say they are too adorable. The magnets are 1.5x1.5 inch square, perfect size from my original 6x6 canvas paintings, so I didn't have to crop anything.

I'm kinda tempted to fill up my entire fridge with them. That won't be too ridiculous, would it?

Etsy shop is now open.

That's right, after much time spent procrastinating, I finally dove in and opened my Etsy shop byMarta. Now if you go on Etsy and look up my shop, you may notice that I registered in 2008, thats not a typo, It's sad to admit that yea it took me that long. But now that I have everything planned, organized and got my giant grey monster (aka my archival printer) I am all set to go.

So far I have listed a few giclee painting of my whimsical mushrooms, a couple of original painting from my Buratino series, and couple of magnets of my mushrooms. Hoping to be productive this weekend and list some giclee prints.

Please check out my byMarta Etsy shop, comment as you see fit.

More Shrooms

Another little shroom is born. Say hello to NIGHT FALL .

Night Fall
6x6
Oil paints, graphite.

The little fellow spends all his free time playing in the leaves, usually around night time. Just look at that big smile. Such simple times when we were kids and playing in the leaves was so much fun, except my curfew was at sundown.

The painting is done is oil and graphite on canvas measuring 6x6x2. I love working on smaller scale canvas. I feel like I have more control over details and it's easier to keep proportions in check.

Available as a giclee print at my Etsy shop. Be sure to stop by and check it out.
