My name is Marta. I'm a Russian illustrator/ graphic designer/ painter living and working in New York.
Born in Belarus and brought up in Brooklyn, NY, I have spent my childhood immersed in cartoons and fairytales, filled with damsels in distress, charming princes, and all kinds of creatures of the imagination. My own imagination took over early on, filling many notebooks with sketches.
I have devoted my studies to graphic arts, finishing Flagler College with a BFA and fully diving into the design industry. However traditional painting has always been my first love. Painting is my outlet into another world, inspired by lowbrow, pop-surrealism, and Kawaii.
Using mainly oils and graphite on wood or canvas, I create a whimsical world of fantasy and dreams, filled with beauty, mystery, and magic. My characters are innocent yet melancholy, they are like sirens inviting the viewer into their world, enticing you with their stories.
